Two years later, in 1996, she moved into technical writing, a discipline she has practiced for 30 years and counting. Denise’s byline first appeared in print in 1992, writing culture articles for a direct-market newspaper, before either ‘content marketing’ or ‘blogging’ were common terms. Teaching the Craft
From 2014 to 2016, Denise worked as an acting coach, helping performers build the skills and confidence that adjudicated auditions and callbacks demand, experience that now informs the casting and audition guidance in her published toolkits.
The 2026 New Works Festival at Stage West Playhouse
Denise is currently deep in one of the most ambitious projects of her theatre career: the New Works Festival at Stage West Playhouse in Spring Hill, Florida, running August 21 to 22, 2026. She helped plan, create, direct, and market the festival, and her fingerprints are on it as a writer, director, and mentor all at once. As a playwright, she authored two comedies debuting at the festival, Romance is a Health Code Violation and Chocolate is my Multivitamin. As a director, she is staging Streetwalker by Cassidy Stevenson and The Audition by Timmy Spence, along with Love, Lysol, and Other Delusions, which she co-wrote with Brian Brijbag and which has been performed internationally, including productions in Israel, South Korea, and Cyprus. As a mentor, she guided emerging playwright Hailey Stevenson and co-directed Hydration and Heartache, written by Catherine Saucedo.
